Undergraduate Nursing Employees

If you’re currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse, working as an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) is a great way to gain clinical experience and strengthen your nursing skills!

To work as an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE), you must be/have:

  • Edmonton Acute Care applicants (Grey Nuns, Misericordia, Villa Caritas) must have successfully completed either: 3rd year of an RN education program or 2nd year of an RPN nursing program or final year of an after-degree nursing education program, along with a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice.
  • Rural & Continuing Care applicants (all remaining Covenant sites) must have successfully completed 3rd year of an RN education program along with a minimum of 450 clinical hours of practice.
  • Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate.

New graduates must hold or be eligible for registration with one of the regulatory bodies below.

Nursing Students as Health Care Aides

We’re seeking nursing students and certified health care aides with a passion for compassionate care. If this sounds like you, please take a look at the requirements below and apply today!

Nursing students

  • must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have successfully completed one of these:
    • 1st year of a practical nursing program, or
    • 2nd year of a baccalaureate nursing program, or 
    • 2nd year of a baccalaureate psychiatric nursing program; and
  • Completed a continuing care or medicine unit placement
  • Have knowledge and experience with medication assistance
  • Must be actively enrolled or eligible for enrolment on the Alberta HCA Directory
