Your Opportunity:
Villa Caritas is a 150 bed acute secure geriatric psychiatry hospital. The hospital has 5 units each composed of 30 beds. Our facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary assessment, individualized care and treatment with the goal of achieving maximum rehabilitation, optimal function and overall wellness to older adults with complex cognitive and psychiatric challenges. Our team delivers services through an interdisciplinary model in collaboration with medical personnel, community resources and family members in an effort to achieve the stabilization and successful discharge of our patients to an appropriate care setting. Unit 2B is a 30 bed acute care unit which provides assessment and treatment for patients who have organic disorders and are demonstrating moderate to severe behavioral dysfunctions. These behaviors may include aggression, resistance to care, and sexual inappropriateness. Common diagnoses include Alzheimer’s, followed by Vascular Dementia. Upon discharge, patients are placed in the most suitable and supportive community living environment. Many patients go to continuing care facilities. The Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day unit operation including direct supervision of unit staff. This role interacts with physicians, nursing staff, other unit staff, and other departments and interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis and provides clinical support to patient/resident care by exception only. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient/resident care activities and coaches, mentors, motivates and empowers clinical staff. Health Care related Baccalaureate Degree required in addition to membership (in good standing) with an accredited health care professional association. A minimum of 5 years in a professional/clinical Health Care role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity; 3 years of leadership experience such as a charge nurse, clinical nurse educator, team lead or clinical project lead required.

Recent experience in Geriatric Addictions and Mental Health and knowledge of recovery focused principals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous management experience in health-related field preferred. A Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Leadership, Health Care Administration or a health-related field is an asset. Understanding of the advanced practice nurse role is an asset. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Excellent knowledge of the various collective agreements (UNA, AUPE, HSAA).
