Covenant Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre site has an opening for a Supervisor on the Nutrition, Food, Linen and Environmental Services (NFLES) Team. The Supervisor reports to the Manager, NFLES and plays a key role in ensuring consistent delivery of quality services, including Food Services, Environmental Services, Laundry. The Supervisor is responsible for hiring, orienting, scheduling, and coaching staff. This role interacts with members of the NFLES team and other site staff daily, residents, and suppliers as needed. We are looking for an individual who excels in employee scheduling and have a track record of delivering quality client services while partnering with multifunctional teams. You will contribute to fostering a positive work environment while supporting employee development and growth. Strong conflict management skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressure to meet expectations are essential. Description:

In keeping with the Covenant’s Mission and Values and as an integral member of the NFLES team, the Supervisor organizes and supervises activities that support the provision of quality services to patients/residents, and customers. The Supervisor is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management in alignment with Covenant policies and collective agreements. The role manages scheduling, attendance, payroll, and staff replacements while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational standards. Working in collaboration with Human Resources, the Supervisor fosters a safe, efficient, and respectful work environment. This position implements and conducts audits, surveys, and other tools that promote quality services delivered in a cost effective manner; Maintains effective communication with staff, residents, and families to ensure smooth coordination of operational activities; Organizes, analyzes and reports financial statistics to ensure resource optimization; Implements action plans for various departmental activities; Ensures front line staff receive required education and training both online and in person, as required; Maintains and develops expertise in food service management, food production, environmental services management, laundry processing, and other services to improve efficiency and quality of service systems and to ensure resident and customer needs are met; Performs other related duties as required. In this frontline supervisory role, you will apply your critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills to positively impact the quality of care and comfort provided to those we serve. This position is non-unionized. This position is an afternoon and weekend rotation.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a two-year Food Service Management course or equivalent management training required. Minimum two (2) years recent experience in a supervisory capacity required. Minimum three (3) years’ experience of related health care experience required. Current Food Safe certificate. Combination of education and experience may be considered.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in employee scheduling. Experience in conducting customer satisfaction surveys/quality audits. Experience in customer relations. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage team and function as a team member. Excellent organizational and conflict resolution skills. Ability to be objective in decision making. Displays a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications:

WHMIS certificate. Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management and Member of Canadian Association of Food Service Professionals. Working knowledge of interpreting collective agreements. Current knowledge and comprehension of dietary guidelines and food services terminology. Able to apply leadership skills appropriate to the situation.
