Graduated from an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS HCP). Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrates ability to effectively triage and delegate tasks within an interdisciplinary team, including LPNs. Provides guidance based on clinical priorities and the scope of practice of team members. Excellent clinical assessment skills and the ability to develop and implement individualized care plans. Compassionate communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic support to patients and families during a challenging time. Physically able to complete all demanding aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending, lifting, assuming awkward positions and standing for long durations of time. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.
Preferred Qualifications:Please note that this position is eligible for participation in the Rural Capacity Investment Fund (RCIF) program.
