The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) is bringing care closer to home for the nearly 400,000 Albertans living in the North Zone. Every day, you can deliver excellence in care in Grande Prairie alongside an interdisciplinary team of passionate and dedicated professionals As the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse, you will report to the manager of the NICU, and your primary focus will be the delivery of care to infants and their families. As a NICU nurse your responsibilities will include providing leadership in both a complex and unpredictable care environment while identifying changes in the infant’s specific health patterns, formulating nursing diagnosis, problem solving and contributing to positive outcomes for patients and their families. The GPRH NICU is the only NICU north of the Edmonton area and consists of a 21 care spaces. As a Level 2 NICU, we provide care for neonates born at 32 weeks gestation and up to 28 days of age. Strong communication skills, critical thinking ability, time management skills with a commitment to best-practice and family centered care are required for success in this area. You will be expected to be trained and attend high risk deliveries. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Preferred Qualifications:Previous NICU experience. NRP Provider. ACoRN Provider.
