Graduate of a RN program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a RN within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required: 1) CRNA Medication Administration Certificate - https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F 2) NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification - https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in mental health (Geriatric Psychiatry) or related settings required. Ability to provide leadership and function as a team member. Ability to work independently. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and patient-centered team environment. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patients' behavior. Ability to recognize, assess and act upon patients in acute mental health crisis, such as delirium. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet patient needs. Good organizational and conflict resolution skills. Excellent time management skills. Proven dependability. Ability to be objective in decision making.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent patient care experience in geriatric psychiatry or with dementia patients/residents in acute or continuing care. Charge Nurse experience is an asset. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training. IV certification and experience with Alaris pump systems. Experience working with Connect Care.
