Your Opportunity:
This is your opportunity to join Covenant Health’s Projects Department in a key leadership role supporting the delivery of capital and operational building infrastructure projects across healthcare sites. Reporting to the Director, the Project Manager provides leadership, oversight, and full lifecycle management of a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from minor works to major capital and complex operational infrastructure initiatives. In this role, you will manage projects through all phases of the project lifecycle—from development and initiation through planning and design, execution, monitoring and control, and close‑out. You will be accountable for delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable building codes, healthcare standards, and municipal bylaws. Working in a dynamic, live healthcare environment, you will collaborate with internal leaders, clinical partners, external consultants, contractors, and regulators to align project outcomes with Covenant Health’s strategic priorities, policies, and values. This role offers the opportunity to apply professional project management expertise, lead multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure that supports safe, high‑quality patient care.
Description:
The Project Manager provides leadership and full accountability for assigned capital and operating infrastructure projects across Covenant Health owned and leased facilities. The role is responsible for all project management activities throughout the project lifecycle, including scope definition, scheduling, stakeholder engagement, procurement planning, risk mitigation, execution, monitoring, control, and close‑out. Key responsibilities include developing and managing project plans, budgets, cash flows, and schedules; coordinating multidisciplinary project teams; and ensuring compliance with building codes, healthcare standards, municipal bylaws, and contractual requirements. The Project Manager leads procurement activities, including consultant and contractor selection, contract negotiation, contract administration, and evaluation of submissions. The position manages vendor performance and project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, invoice approval, and reporting. The Project Manager leads stakeholder engagement, communicates project status, and identifies and resolves risks and issues affecting scope, cost, schedule, and quality. The role ensures projects are delivered within a safe working environment and supports commissioning, equipment installation, and transition to operations. The Project Manager also provides expertise, input, and recommendations to leadership related to project planning, development, and execution.

A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or Project Management (Building Construction), OR a diploma or certification in Architecture, Building, Engineering Technology, or a Journeyman Trade Certificate is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum of seven (7) years of commercial or institutional construction project management experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity is required. Demonstrated experience managing full lifecycle construction projects—including scope, schedule, cost, quality, procurement, and risk management—is essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency with computerized project management tools and Microsoft Office applications is required. The ability to read, interpret, and administer construction drawings, specifications, and contracts is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience delivering hospital or healthcare construction and renovation projects, including work in fully operational acute care or long‑term care environments, is preferred. Experience managing external consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies is an asset. Experience working in large, matrix organizations with the ability to build partnerships and manage competing priorities is preferred.
