Your Opportunity:
As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will be responsible for the care and treatment of emergency patients from scene to hospitals, and between healthcare facilities. As a prehospital emergency care professional, you will provide direction in optimizing patient-focused clinical care and decision making. You will assist in ensuring Emergency Medical Services vehicles and equipment are appropriately stocked and in-service. While primarily working on an Advanced Life Support vehicle as an assistant to the Advanced Care Paramedic, you will also be responsible to manage an direct patient care to a PCP standard. Working closely with other health and emergency services stakeholders, you will be expected to foster and promote strong relationships within the Bow Valley and beyond. You will be a quick learner who is ready to take initiatives in the pursuit of intellectual and practical opportunities to improve patient care. Note: This position is for a 0.5FTE (1095 hours per year) and it is anticipated that more than one individual will be hired from this posting. Must be able to travel between various sites/locations; and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Description:
Description: As a Primary Care Paramedic you will transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation, assessing emergency scenes and patients. You may treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation. You may also lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as transfer vans, are properly stocked and equipped. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Primary Care Paramedic Certificate. Registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as a Primary Care Paramedic. National Association of Professional Driving certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Preferred Qualifications:Alberta Health Services Medical Control Protocol (MCP) Certification. Professional Driver Improvement Course (P.D.I.C.) Training. Incident Command System (100 or greater) training.
