Your Opportunity:
The Physiotherapist (PT) provides their expertise in a rehabilitation environment within the Post Acute Rehabilitation Program (intensive inpatient rehabilitation) and supports the Geriatric Community Rehabilitation Program (outpatient geriatric rehabilitation), as needed. Primary patient demographics include, but are not limited to, strokes, hip fractures, amputations and neurological disorders. The position involves consultation and collaboration with hospital staff and community agencies, and working closely with the interdisciplinary team, including supervising therapy assistants. In addition, the PT attends and contributes to the weekly rounds through written and/or verbal report. As an educator, the PT will seize opportunities for teaching moments with patients and their families as well as participate in the admission and discharge planning processes. The PT assesses and continually monitors our patients and clearly communicates concerns with other staff and physicians. The PT works closely with other stakeholders in the patient's rehabilitative journey. This PT position will also be orientated to other departments in order to be able to provide relief, if required.

Description: The Physical Therapist II (PT) is responsible for providing leadership and functional supervision through the coordination of the day to day operations to their assigned team. The PT II facilitates the development of professional skills in their team, participates in program development and operational planning, and acts as a communication liaison between team and management. Provides direct patient care, working as part of an interprofessional leadership team. The PT II is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Physical Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with Physiotherapy Alberta College and Association required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:A full Physiotherapist practice permit with no restrictions is required. Must be able to spend considerable time standing, walking and in close supportive contact with patients. Will be required to bend, pull, lift, perform variable movements, change position (assume awkward positions), transfer and/or lift adults and transport equipment. Must have the ability to concentrate over extended periods of time, diplomatically address patient/family concerns, delegate tasks, review referrals, organize students, provide evidence of continuous learning, show clinical expertise and complete therapy planning. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous working practice and supervision experience from a rehabilitation setting preferred.
