Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health settings (related experience such as preceptorships or UNE placements may be considered). Ability to work independently and confidently within a fast paced, highly acute psychiatric care environment. Advanced assessment skills with the ability to recognize, interpret, and respond appropriately to rapid changes in patient status. Strong, adaptable communication skills with the capacity to tailor communication style to meet diverse and complex patient needs. Excellent organizational, time management, and conflict resolution abilities required, essential for maintaining safety and flow in a high acuity setting. Demonstrated dependability and reliability, with consistent follow through in all aspects of practice. Ability to remain objective and grounded when making clinical decisions under pressure. Proactive approach to ongoing learning, including identifying independent learning needs and maintaining current competencies required for intensive psychiatric care.
Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of community mental health and addictions resources and programs preferred. Excellent attendance record and personal suitability demonstrated through employment record and references preferred.
