Your Opportunity:
WHMIS - Desired. Food Safe - Desired. Required to stand and walk on concrete floors for most of the shift. Some heavy lifting required. Operates institutional blender, can opener, steamtables, juice machine, coffee urn, microwave, toaster, dish machine, garburator, conveyor belts, cart washer and sprayer hose. Must be able to work holidays/weekends and flexible hours as workload demands. Exposure to various chemical compounds and cleaners; some requiring special handling. Stoops for, reaches for, lifts and carries supplies, push and pulls food wagons. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Description: The Food Services Attendant I portions, packages and/or serves food items according to menu, diet protocol, portion control and temperature standards within an acute care or continuing care setting. The position is also responsible for cleaning equipment, supplies and surfaces throughout the kitchen. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. Displays excellent communication and selling skills. Must possess high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and neatness. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must possess high standards of accuracy. Displays superior eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity and speed for working on a tray line/dish disassembly line. Ability to remain calm and pleasant to patrons at all times. Ability to exercise judgement and initiative to satisfy customer requests. Must have time management skills and be able to plan for deadlines. Displays high levels of honesty and integrity. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. Ability to exercise judgement and initiative when dealing with last minute changes and/or requests. Required to lift weights frequently of 15 - 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Works in a clean, well-lit , well-ventilated kitchen/dishroom. Exposures to temperatures changes in the work area. Must be able to cope with high noise levels during peak meal service times. Must be adaptable and willing to perform a variety of tasks on a rotating basis. Must be able to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions in work flow. Must be able to deal with patients/residents, staff and other personnel in a courteous and tactful manner.
