Must meet the requirements to enroll in an approved HCA program at a recognized post-secondary school.
Additional Required Qualifications:Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Must have completed a minimum of Grade 11, transcripts required. In addition, they must meet the admission requirements for the Health Care Aide Apprentice Program at Norquest College. For English Language Arts, this requirement can be satisfied with a minimum grade of 60% in English Language Arts 20-2, 55% in English Language Arts 30-2, or successful completion of the Accuplacer exam, or an equivalent. If English is a second language, applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency. Test results must be no more than two years old at the start of the program. Acceptable scores include an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no section below 5.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 71, a Duolingo score of at least 95, or a CLBA/CLBPA score with no section below 7. Applicants must also be physically capable of supporting all aspects of patient or resident care and transport, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting, and must be able to understand both written and verbal directions in English. Preferred Qualifications:This is a training opportunity for individuals who are not already certified or eligible to be certified as Health Care Aides. Applicants must NOT already have HCA certification, related education, or experience in the role.
