An exciting opportunity exists in Covenant Health, Edmonton Zone. Clinical Engineering is looking for a Biomedical Technologist to support the Grey Nuns Hospital and various sites across the Edmonton and Central Zones. We have one entry level position available. This position is part of a diverse team of Biomedical Technologists. The successful candidate will be exposed to a wide range of medical equipment and facilities. The Biomedical Technologist I, works under the direction of more senior technologists. This includes working independently or as part of the clinical team and is responsible for performance assurance testing and support of medical devices, ensuring compliance to CSA, manufacturers and accreditation specifications and standards. Responsibilities also include scheduling and managing of assigned workload. Please note: The successful candidate must be able to travel between various sites/locations and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Description:
The Biomedical Equipment Technologist I, provides operational and functional assistance to the Biomedical Equipment Technologist II position. This includes assisting in developing, organizing and conducting equipment performance and acceptance testing, reporting parameters and developing supporting documentation associated with equipment performance, maintenance and Radiation Protection/Emission requirements. The technologist requires a comprehensive knowledge of various types of medical equipment and must be well versed in details of anatomy and physiology. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Successful completion of a diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited institute of technology, or equivalent in education and experience.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have a valid driver's license. Exhibit a working knowledge of medical terminology and physiology along with microprocessor and PC based equipment. Demonstrate technical skills and mechanical aptitude. Demonstrate good interpersonal and written/ verbal communication skills; proven organizational skills. Must be reliable, alert, accurate, and capable of working independently.
Preferred Qualifications:Specific manufacturer's technical service training courses on specialized medical equipment for patient care is an asset. Additional experience is an asset. Active registration as a Technologist-in-Training (T.T.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) is preferred.
